EVENT POSTPONED: Summer Series #1

It is with great sadness that SPF Beach Volleyball has made the difficult decision to postpone our Summer Series #1 event. Due to the absence of clearance from the cities to reserve court facilities and run organized events, as well as the number of out-of-state athletes registering for our events, SPF felt strongly it needed to make a decision sooner rather than later. At this time we are not sure what the future holds with regard to organized sporting events in the Placer and Sacramento counties. We are continuing to work closely with city and county officials and entities on court re-openings for organized sporting events, and any updates we can confirm will be posted as soon as possible. Please be sure to follow our website and social media for updates moving forward. For those of you that have registered for a number of our Summer events already, SPF will be issuing full refunds over the coming days for all events. When cities and counties open park facilities to organized sport ag…

Returning to Play: Safety Protocols for the COViD-19 Era

With the state's re-opening plan underway, some cities have begun to reduce their restrictions regarding city park usage by their communities. We posted about these new city & county orders in our previous blog, COViD-19 Update: New orders announced, last Sunday. The City of Folsom on Friday May 1st announced it will be opening its parks and their amenities to their communities for use per the new order, and on Saturday May 2nd the city reinstalled the nets on the sand volleyball courts at Livermore Park. Here are some of the safety protocols SPF will be implementing when cities, cou…

COViD-19 Update: New orders announced

Since April 28th, cities and counties all over the Greater Sacramento area have been making announcements to the public regarding the COViD-19 shelter-in-place orders. Most, if not all, have allowed locally-mandated orders to expire in order to make way for the centralized, state-wide order to take over and take its place. This is the primary reason for all the local order expirations we are experiencing right now.So, how do these events effect sand volleyball in the Greater Sacramento area then? The answer is, it does and it doesn't.To a certain extent, California appears to have continued to allow the counties & cities to make their own decisions with regard to parks & recreation as the COViD-19.ca.gov website states, "Parks may be closed to help slow the spread of the virus. Check with local officials about park closures in your area".Placer County made their announcement on April 29th. It stated it would allow it's local order to expire and defer to Calif…
